Wednesday we had our second day of filming. This was the day we could film our main character/hero. It was difficult at first, and I still need to see the real footage, but we definitly shot some cool stuff. Tonight I’ll post some screenshots. I have high hopes for this to work out, but I still am a little bit sceptic about the deadline…

Yesterday we had our first night of shooting. We spend 4 hours filming in a garage. It was a little hard to determine how to use the lighting. But we think the result is very cool. We shot the first few shots of the trailer (we think the ironer looks very sexy), which is used as a benchmark. Expect some footage and photo’s later this week. Tomorrow we will shoot some actual IRON MAN shots. More to come…

I think a lot of you know this site already, but I find it rather entertaining. It’s unbelievable!

To create a visual style, we had to test how we would shoot our commercial. A lot of questions come to mind. How can we create an immersive experience that doesn’t have an amateurvideo feel? How do we light our scene? It’s pretty complex, but we found an interesting style. It’s very important to light the scenes well, and filters in Adobe Premiere will tweak it until the scene has a decent feel. We want to have a mysterious feel in our scenes, like in the new batman movies. The test-footage shows me standing as one of the badguys IRON MAN will fight. Offcourse this is not real footage, but displays the feel of the scene and gives us some confidence in shooting them. Now we know we are on the right track!

Judging the screenshots above, we have to use more fill-light, to see the face of the character more clearly. But some of these shots clearly display night and add some mystery.

We’ll shoot some key scenes monday and wednesday night. The first scene will involve two badguys breaking in and being *sskicked by IRON MAN and the second scene will have a bar brawl. It will be complex, but it’s also fun to shoot!

IRON MAN will fight with two super sexy black ironers. Some pics while creating them.

A few months ago (or maybe a little longer) I heard from someone that my favorite household pizza, the Iglo (or Dr. Oetker) Pizza Venitiana, was stopped being made.

Well, that sucked bigtime. I had to live with other pizza brands I didn’t really like. They were O.K, but weren’t special. The Venitiana pizza was, because of the special topping and crispy ‘bottom’ (ok, this doesn’t sound ok, but you get the point, I hope).

I given up all hope for a new pizza I would like…no…LOVE! But I lost all hope…

But just a few weeks ago, I was shopping at the JUMBO, and there she was again! I don’t know if this was an older stash, but I bought all of them…

Man, this photo is pretty crappy, but hey, it tasted very good!

Jeroen Abel and I decided to team up for a combined assignment. We’re going to make a commercial for a new (fictious) Philips ironer ‘IRON MAN’. The target audience are men, and the experience we want to deliver with our commercial is that every man that uses the ‘IRON MAN’, is a hero. The ‘IRON MAN’!

The following video is a dummy version of our commercial. With simple drawings, music and sounds we want to create the ‘feel’ for the commercial and the shots we want to deliver. So it’s about feeling, timing and concept. If you don’t understand some images, that’s fine, we hope to create some good videofootage to back things up. Enjoy!

One sidenote: this is not the full commercial. This video has no introduction (10 sec) and an end shot, so this is only the trailer.

The video is up, but maybe it’s still processing. So it will be up in a couple of seconds, minutes or hours…

I decided to team up with Jeroen Abel to create an assignment ourselves. We’re going to combine the Archetype assigment with the choice assignment ‘Creating a commercial’. Our goal is to use an archetype to present an household object in a commercial. We’re inspired by the Grindhouse style of the Coca Cola Zero commercial.

A teaser (and concept for our archetype):

IRONMAN

The idea is to create a spectacular commercial around this archetype. We want to create a ‘hero’ feeling when operating the ironer. Our target audience are students, for now. But it ain’t decided just yet.
