I’m a very strange person. I only like a few genres of music, and I really destroy cd’s by listening too much at the same album. I listened Metallica’s S&M like a 1000 times, and do the same with U2’s Achtung Baby or Joshua Tree. I feel safe with the music that I like, but it’s causing me to not appriciate other music at first hand. On second hand however…

Well, I hated Radiohead when I first heard from them. I didn’t like the frontman, I didn’t like the music. I always turned off the tv when ‘Karma Police’ got on Top 40, and switched back on when the Spice Girls were playing. C’mon guys, I was 13 at the time, give me a break, I liked the blonde one…

But, out of curiosity, I downloaded (Oh my god…) a few songs of Radiohead. And after an incubation period, I really liked them. The first albums (Pablo Honey, The Bends and OK computer) are rockalbums with some nice ballads in between (Fake Plastic Trees). They remind of Coldplay, Muse and Keane. But Radiohead was there first.

Then a more experimental phase came for Radiohead, which I didn’t listen any songs from. But I did downloaded some songs of their lastest work (which combines experimentation and a little rock): In Rainbows.

I’m still getting used to it, but some songs are very cool. The feel simplistic, but the little details and melodies really shine, in my opinion. The album contains up-tempo songs, but the following is much slower. But I think it’s a beauty.

And a much more hysteric, but electrifing song…

What I like about Radiohead is their melodic music, great melodies, little details. The singing is very down, but it suites the music. I like the earlier work because of the great rockmusic and touching ballads, but the new stuff is pretty melodic and very ambient.
